While on the way you’ll get a sneak peek at sugarcane fields and the Bateys which are home to thousands of Haitian workers, & enjoy the rural landscaping of the area as heading towards San Rafael del Yuma.
Our first stop will be at the house where Juan Ponce de Leon, the man who discovered Puerto Rico and St. Augustine, the first city of north America, lived over 500 years ago and learn interesting facts about his journeys and his search for the fountain of youth.
Visit Boca de Yuma originally known as the “Port of Higüey, a traditional fishing village full of interesting history of the colonial times including forts and pirates.
Admire the fantastic views of the Yuma bay while enjoying a cold drink, or the opportunity to take wonderful pictures with the beautiful background of the Caribbean sea.
Afterwards you are invited to Hacienda Yuma a Victorian style house, where you get to relax and soak in fantastic arts and crafts exhibits, besides family pictures from now and the past, here you get the sense that the past comes to life. While touring the house let the owners amaze you with the family background history and tales about the time of the colonies and the sugar cane industry on the area.
