The contrast between city and country life, can be experienced here in Higüey up close like nowhere else, as we take you in air conditioned comfort to the city’s most famous monument, the Church of San Dionisio (Saint Denis), from the 16th century and the famous Basilica of La Altagracia which Pope Paul II personally blessed back in 1992.

To continue the experience we drive towards Higüey’s Countryside to the rural area of Matachalupe. After a short drive follow by a safety briefing & introduction to the Electric bike use, you are all set to follow your expert guide through rural villages and ride on hidden trails and tracks through farm and cattle land gaining deep insights of local life.

After some pedaling we will do a quick stop to refresh at a small countryside shop or as it is commonly known by the locals a Colmado, where you will meet the owners and we will be serve a refreshing lemonade and snacks.

We will take you to another great historical site, which has been recently rediscovered, an old Sugar Cane Mill Ruins, here your very knowledgeable and informative guide will give you interesting facts and tell you amazing stories about past times.

The day won’t be complete without enjoying a delicious lunch and relax on a local ranch, or take a refreshing dip on the property’s pool before heading back to your hotel.
